April Randoms

April.  April 2020 was the strangest month I've ever experienced.  We lived in quarantine with our families unsure of what to expect.  We home schooled (did school online), worried, simplified our lives, figured out how to be with each other (meaning Boonie and Marae without their social lives), cooked, cleaned, repeat.

Luckily we had the weather on our side.  The warmth of spring came early instead of a long winter and I'm so thankful for that.  It kept us sane.  We spent a lot of time outdoors.

An interesting thing that happened was the school bus would drive around every day at lunch time and stop at our driveway and hand out lunches.  It was a life saver bc it was one less meal I had to worry about.  It broke up the day a bit and gave the kids something to look forward to.  Not mention they gave two meals (lunch for that day and breakfast for the next) so the kids had a lot to choose from.  We'd often have a picnic lunch in the front yard on a blanket.

Marae purchased her first adult art set.  She went to hobby lobby the day before it closed down and bought her paint set.  She was beyond proud and it was perfect timing before things shut down completely.

I had been on an exercising kick for my physical health as well as my mental health since November.  Well when everything started to shut down and my anxiety went up my normal classes I had been taking through the city were also canceled.  I had been having problems with shin splints for quite a while.  I started running and that sent my legs down an even worse path.  They hurt so bad and I was so frustrated.  I went to a sports medicine doctor who took x-rays on my legs and found out I had stress fractures on both shins.  If I didn't stop running/jumping/high impact exercising then my legs were going to basically snap.  So I was instructed to wear a boot on each leg for a week and then switch.  That was so hard for me with my fitness routine.  It was very discouraging but I didn't want to lose all the progress I had made.  Luckily I was able to find other ways to exercise that were less strenuous on my legs, but let me tell you... that was another had point for me.  Exercising was the only thing that was clearing my mind at this point.

Nibley city did a competition for families.  We created an obstacle course video and sent it in.  The kids won a prize basket for one of the best videos.

My friends sent out weekly challenges for us to do - baking, chalk art, cake challenge, etc - to keep us entertained and social... this particular challenge was to recreate a famous painting.  I dolled up Mason.

Wyatt loves tractors and had the best day of his life when we discovered this one on a walk one afternoon.

The Air Force flew over the whole state of Utah as a thanks for all the medical professionals who are putting their lives in danger daily to work with COVID patients.  We watched them fly over our back field.  It was a special experience for the kids.

My dad decided to let his facial hair grow out being he didn't need to shave for church anymore.  This is the first time I've seen him with facial hair other than a mustache.

I took Adelyn out to sonic one night when I needed to get away.  It was the first time going out since things closed.  Cream slushes at Sonic for the win.  Drive thru's and take out orders are still going.

Adelyn lost her first tooth.  It was pretty traumatic.  The poor thing couldn't handle the blood but she was sure proud once it was finally out.  And she was delighted that the tooth fairy made her way to her house!
