June, June. What a wonderful month. We love summer around here and always jam pack it full of fun and exciting things. Highlights of June include attempting to potty train Adelyn (don't worry - it doesn't fully happen until October), losing our beloved chickens - one to a raccoon, and the others to the neighbors dog, getting new chickens, shaving cream party with the neighborhood kids, our 10 year wedding anniversary spent with our besties the Kelstrom's who got married on the same day as us (we celebrated by going to New Orleans in January), recording Father's day songs, finishing the playhouse, buying Laura's truck and taking it to Porcupine Reservoir where Mason went cliff jumping, swim lessons, a visit from my high school friend Lindsey Sasser, Klara visiting, and Boonie playing baseball. Whew!! What a month!!
Unfortunately we lost our chickens this month. One morning I was teaching and I heard Boonie just wailing from the outside. A raccoon had dug a hole up and under the coup and pulled out Big Red. Boonie's little heart just broke. He was so sad and heart broken. It was just the sweetest and saddest thing. He wanted to have a funeral so we printed out the pictures we had of him, put his feathers that we found in a jar, and made a memorial. Unfortunately the next day the other two chickens disappeared. Our neighbors dog was back in the coupe and the chickens were nowhere to be found. Needless to say, that was not an easy day for Boonie either. We had to quickly replace the chickens and beef up the coupe.
