Wyatt - 1 Year Old

Weight: 21 lbs 14 oz - 60th Percentile
Height: 30.75 inches - 75th Percentile
Head Measurement: 19 inches - 95th Percentile

Thing's That Wyatt Does at 1 Year (besides break his mother's heart for getting so big):

  • crawls really fast.  He is FAST!  He has thought about walking only a couple times.  He'll try and go between Mason and I and just the other day he took a couple steps while holding on to a chair and walking to me.  But then it scared him and he decided not to do it anymore.  He's right on track with all my other babies to be walking at 13 months.  Take your time little man.
  • He's so friendly.  He has never had a separation anxiety phase.  He will go to anybody at anytime.  At church he will just crawl around Sunday school making his way from person to person seeing what fun thing they have to play with.
  • Contradicting the last thing I wrote... when we make eye contact he is like a magnet to me.  If he is across the room he'll have to come over for a snuggle or a head butt (not sure why he likes to do this!).  I love it though.  It's special to me.  If Mason is holding him and we make eye contact he'll begin to lean and gravitate to me.  My baby.
  • He has a naughty streak... He is drawn to only do the things he's not suppose to do.  It's the strangest thing.  He will go around the house checking all the things he's not suppose to do to see if one is available to do.  Here are what his rounds look like:  check the kitchen sink to see if it's open, move to the laundry room bathroom to see if it's open - if it is go to the toilet and play in it, move to the stairs by the front door - if nobody sees you on the stairs attempt to go down them - once you make it down them crawl to the plant by the front door and throw dirt everywhere, move to the entertainment system - pull out the Nintendo system and chew on wires, go check and see if mommy and daddy's bathroom door is open - if so repeat toilet scene.  All the while he checks to see if the kids have left the gate to the downstairs open.  It's the strangest thing!!  I've never had a baby do only that!  I have drawers that he can play in (tubberware, spice drawer, dvds to throw) but he only wants to do what he's not suppose to.
  • He tattles on himself while he doing these naughty things.  If he finds a bathroom open or gets to the plant he will make a sound that sounds like a question.  So if you hear him asking the question sound... he's doing naughty things.  I love him.
  • He's a little tank.  He's really filled out and loves to eat.  He will eat anything you put in front of him - or that he finds on the floor.
  • He is good about tattle on himself if he finds something on the floor and puts it in his mouth.  As much as I try to keep the upstairs clean, he still will occasionally find something.  He'll put it in his mouth and always crawl as fast as he can over to me to have me take it out.  I love him.
  • His favorite toys are his toy cat that he got in the little house for Christmas.  He also loves his singing bear that Grandma gave him for Christmas.  He likes to turn it on and dance and he'll sing a certain phrase with it.  He loves his pirate ship.  He loves to have the kids push him around on it.  He loves his blankie.  He's still a blankie baby.
  • Wyatt claps his hands and says 'hot'.  That's still the only word he says regularly.  We think he's said 'dada' many times.  And the other day he was crying and saying 'mama' over and over but he only did it that one time.  So I don't know if he knows those words yet.  But he KNOWS hot and will say it whenever we give him something to eat (even if it's not hot - just to check) and anytime he goes by the oven.
  • His nicknames are bear, curious george, puppy (bc he follows me like a puppy), and bug.
  • He sleeps through the night most of the time.  About 2 times a week he will wake up in the middle of the night but goes right back to sleep after he gets his milk.  I still don't mind.  He's my baby.  He always gives the best snuggles right after he's had his milk while holding his blankie.
  • He likes the cats that the girls are always bringing in.  He makes a certain high pitch squeak when he sees them either inside or outside the door.
  • He is difficult to change - diapers or clothes.  He likes to try and roll and gets angry!  You always have to distract him with something in order to get the job done.
