We went with Laura to Coeur d'Alene because we had heard how amazing it was to bike the Hiawatha trail. We rented an airb&b right on the lake and it was so fun. Unfortunately the second day we were there (the day before the big bike ride) Tom got sick with sepsis which put him back in the hospital so Laura had to leave early. We were sad she had to go. The day before she left we took our bikes on the trail that goes around the lake. We saw some moose and even a baby moose. It was gorgeous there with all the pine.
The Hiawatha trail is 15 miles through an abandoned train route that has 1.5 miles of tunnel. We had to wear head lamps and be prepared for a day long trip. The kids did amazingly well. This was one of my favorite family trips we've ever done - even more than Disneyland. It was so fun to be out and riding this gorgeous trail. We hope to be able to go again someday and take Laura.
What I didn't get a picture of was the girls at the end while we were waiting for the shuttle to take us back to the top, the girls caught a squirrel in a peanut can. These squirrels were use to city folk - not my chicken wrangling girls.
