Pumpkin Books

So many of you asked so here it is... I saw these on a craft website that I follow and made them in one afternoon (like in an hour - totally do-able). My visiting teacher who is also in charge of enrichment asked me if I would be willing to teach a class on how to make them. They are SO simple and fun to make, did I mention oh so easy (minus the tedious cutting part)!!

Enjoy! I'll be making more for enrichment. I want to try different book sizes.

Recent Going Ons

Here are some fun random pictures of Boonie and some things he has been doing lately:
  • He is officially walking as of last Sunday.
  • He is teething MAJORLY - like getting 5 in at once. That poor little swollen mouth. We've had some restless nights and fussy days, but that's okay. I just wish they'd get here and stop hurting the poor little guy.
  • He now signs 'hot' and anytime you say the word 'hot' he cries in fear or say, "Hhhh."
  • He loves his stuffed animals.
  • He knows the word kiss and gives slobbery ones freely.
  • He's still kind of a picky eater.
  • He says, "What's that," probably 150 times a day. Although it sounds more like, "W-sat"
Here is a picture from when he had the roseola rash. It's hard to see. Clearly he's just miserable in this picture below (not).

He was in heaven when Mason covered him with these animals. He just laid there really still grinning from ear to ear. He's such a silly little boy.

The outlet plug covers on the island in our kitchen are not so baby proof. Boonie can pull them out and likes to play with them. Well he stuck one of them in his mouth with the prongs facing in and started walking around. He fell flat on his face and scratched his poor little teething mouth. Ouch. There was a lot of blood, tears, and a fat lip. It was the first time my little guy has 'really' gotten hurt. It made his mommy cry too. I don't think I'm going to be able to handle any broken bones. I pray for safe kids!! But if they are anything like their father, I'm doomed.

He looks so cute with his little inside out vampire fangs or snake bite.

One of his favorite hangouts (check out my book pumpkins that I made. Aren't they SO cute!?):

The Party

We had Boonie's party on Saturday with my family. He still wasn't quite himself, but he was feeling much better than he had been the prior two days.

Darci and Boone - see you can tell in this picture he doesn't feel good. But you only turn 1 once! So a party, we had!

I had originally planned on doing a bubble themed party, but that slowly evolved to a duck party which I think fits him even better. Here's the spread:

Don't you just love this face?!

My first cake ever!! I was so pleased with how it came out!

At first he just poked at the cake. Then he realized he was allowed to touch it and dove in!

...head first...

best. picture. ever.

I know it looks like he totally loved eating the cake, but he actually hardly had any of it. He just like squeezing it in his fingers.

What a fun birthday! It was a success!

Happy first birthday Boonie Lefler!

The Birthday Boy

Yup... it inevitably happened. My baby turned 1 year old.
Here are his stats:

Weight: 19.14 oz - 15th percentile
Length: 31 1/4 inches - 95th percentile

I have a very tall and skinny little boy. His birthday fell on a Thursday and being everyone was busy that day we planned his party for Saturday the 24th. That ended up being a very good thing because my poor little birthday boy ended up sick on his birthday. He woke up that morning at 7:00 am just crying. He usually sleeps until 8:30 or so, so I was confused as to why he was up so early. So being the awesome mom I am I grabbed the video camera and ran into his room singing happy birthday while blinding him with the light. Well the poor little boy had scratched his mouth on something and there was blood everywhere. Oops... that's where I turned off the camera. He wouldn't go back to sleep so we started our day off early. My mom and I had already planned to meet at a park in Chandler to feed ducks and take his 1 year old pictures. I thought he felt a little warm... but nothing too much.

So we get to the park and start our adventure with Grandma.

Boonie loves birds and is always pointing them out whenever he sees them. So I thought that he would love nothing more than to sit in a pile of them. He didn't seem to mind... at first.

But then we looked closely and his little hands were shaking!! Poor thing. I guess birds in massive quantities are scary... and I'm not even close to being their size!!

So mommy came in to save the day. This is when I noticed how warm he was feeling and we weren't getting any smiles, which that's usually all he is. Poor baby.

Needless to say, I didn't get any pictures of that darling smile. He had a temperature of 102.5 and then when we went to the doctor he told us that Boonie was cutting 4 teeth. No wonder my baby has been so fussy this week. I was still able to get a few cute ones. We didn't stay long because I knew he didn't feel good.

He wouldn't even smile at the ducks... that's how you know Boonie Lefler wasn't feeling good.

"Mommy... I don't feel good."

So it's a good thing we didn't do much to celebrate his birthday. He was sick all day Thursday and Friday. He still wasn't feeling in top shape on Saturday for his party, but atleast he felt better. Then the rash showed up on Sunday... yup... he had Roseola. Joy. Atleast that's over with. The doctor told us that every toddler gets it sometime between 9 months and 16 months. Boonie was just lucky enough to get it on his birthday.

Stay tuned for the birthday post!
