New Camera

I got a new camera.  I hadn't been pleased with the image quality of my oldie but goodie.  So we made an investment and upgraded.  I'm hoping to take my photography business to the next level soon.  Here are some of my test shots.  I LOVE my new camera.  It takes beautiful images.

And this one is just the greatest.

This is a laugh - not a cry.  HA!

Soccer Season!

May was soccer month.  Both Boone and Marae did soccer this year.

Boonie rocked it this year.  There were 4 kids on their team who worked so well together.  It was fun to see how much they had grown since last year being most of the kids were the same.  Boonie and Lincoln Maughan have become pretty close buddies so they had a blast together too.  He played aggressively and kept up with the best of them.  We were proud of him!

Marae's first year of soccer was pretty entertaining.  The first couple games she spent her time daydreaming about the snacks that would come after the game.  There were a couple of times when she was walking around with her shirt over her head.  I wasn't sure if soccer was going to be her thing or not...  But the last couple games she caught the fire and actually scored quite a few times.  She had fun!  We'll be curious to see if this sticks or not.

Preschool Graduation

My little Rae graduated from preschool.  She went to Nibley Elementary and was in Mrs. Gabby's class.  The kids performed nursery rhymes and Marae was little Bo Peep.  She made some cute little friends in her class.  She was particularly fond of Ethan and Liam Fenton...  she had been talking about these twin boys all year.  Come to find out they are our neighbor Todd Fenton's grandsons!  She was thrilled to find that out.

Next she'll be a big kindergartener!!

Wyatt's 3rd Month

It's going too fast... He's getting too big.  Every time I see a baby smaller than him I get emotional because I'll never have that again.  This tiny little person is such a joy to me and just so special.  He has turned into SUCH a good baby.  Oh my goodness.... he never cries, he's so patient, and he just goes with the flow - which is quite often all over the place.

Fun things about Wyatt at 3 months:
  • He's starting to sleep much better at night.  He will only get up twice... once around 2 or 3 and then again around 6.  I just cherish those nights with him... I know how fleeting they are.  He's always too out of it at the 2 am feeding.  He doesn't want to be sat up to burp and he franticly tries to eat my face as I'm trying to get him to burp.  I found this poem online and it just makes me cry every time I read it.  I love being his mommy and I'm so thankful I get to have him:
My Baby Boy and Me

It's three AM, they're all asleep,
and no-one's here to see.
As we rock slowly back and forth,
My baby boy and me.

His little hand is feather light
Tucked up against my chin.
I hold his tiny hand in mine,
and stroke his baby skin.

The house about us creaks and groans,
The clock hands creep around.
He snuggles closer to me still,
And makes his baby sounds.

I love these quiet hours so much,
And cherish every one.
Store memories up inside my heart
For lonely nights to come.

All too soon he'll be grown up,
His need for mama gone.
But until then I still have time
For kisses and for song.

Time for quiet hours like this
With him cuddled in my arms,
Where I wish he'd always stay
Protected, safe and warm.

And yet I know the day will come
When his tiny little hand,
will be bigger than my own.
He'll grow to be a man.

But until then he's mine to love
With no one here to see.
As we rock slowly back and forth,
My baby boy and me.

  • He's starting to not like his binkie as much.  He LOVED it when he was a newborn... now he doesn't need it to fall asleep.  He actually gets angry if you try and put it in.  I think it's because he falls asleep in his car seat so often and he never has it in his mouth then.  That's just my theory.
  • He is a happy little man who loves to smile at anyone who makes eye contact with him.  The kids often fight over who gets to talk to him when he's awake.  He's everyone's favorite.  The kids still think he's just hilarious with all the little things he does... especially when he will kick or hit Boonie in the face - which is all the time because that's how babies wiggle!!
  • He will laugh occasionally.  We have a cute video of Mason making him laugh hard... but other than that one time we've only gotten an occasional chuckle out of him.
  • He loves to sit in his bouncer and stare at the little hanging chickie.  The kids say it's his best friend.
  • He has moved into the next clothing size 3-6 months.  He's getting TOO BIG!!!!!!!!
  • He still like to be burrito-ed at night but likes to fight to get out of it.  He likes to move his little hands together to touch inside the burrito.  But they often ride up and attack his face.
  • He is a drooly baby.  He likes to blow tiny bubbles and get his outfits soaking wet.
  • He makes the most darling baby coos when he talks to you.  He likes to talk to you whenever you talk to him.  He also still heavy breathes and makes duck lips whenever he first makes eye contact with you.
  • He still has a goopy right eye.  The duct must still not be open yet - yay... that means he's still a little baby.
  • Things that he doesn't have that his siblings all did at this age:  a flat head.  Due to the fancy baby pillow that daddy bought him and that he sleeps on every night, he's got a beautiful shaped head.  He also is very regular - unlike all his siblings who only ever pooped once every 7-10 days.  It's because he's been on probiotics since he was about 3 weeks old when I went on antibiotics.  So that's another good thing!!  I know NOBODY cares about these things but me... but I care about them so here they are!!
  • I can count the number of times he's been put on his belly for tummy time...  5.  I just love to snuggle him too much.  I guess we better get on that although he is plenty strong.
  • He hates the sound of bags or plastic bottles being crinkled.  It makes him cry every time.  That and loud yelling, but I mean come on... he's only a baby, right?  The loud yelling usually only happens at soccer games or as Marae flies by being an eagle or a screaming cow or when one of the cats is carrying off one of the baby chickens.  Ya know.... just the normal things in life.
