Oh Keystone, CO. Mason had a conference in Keystone and we tagged along. I'm so glad we did. It was one of the best family trips we've ever had. It was so fun because the kids were old enough to be able to do things and no one absolutely needed a nap. We stopped in Glenwood Springs for the first night on the way over and swam in the hot springs in the morning. It was GLORIOUS.
We rented a little Airbnb (that Mason's school paid for) that had 3 bedrooms. Mason's parents were coming up on the 3rd day so I could go to some events with Mason. There was so much to do. Canvas (the people hosting the event) spared no expense on this! We got to paddle board, canoe, paddle boat, swim, and ride bike to our hearts content. Mason was a workshops most of the time, but I had a blast with the kids.
My favorite part of the trip was our bike ride. I taught the kids how to really have an adventure. We had a map of the place and I thought I knew where the bus stops were... So we started riding downhill (because that's easiest for Marae) for a LONG time. It was beautiful. Well, come to find out we were lost and WAY past the bus stops that took us back to the resort. The kids were getting worried, but I told them that this is what an adventure is... you don't know how it's going to end! We cut across a golf course where a nice lady led us in her golf cart (gave Marae chips and a ride) to the main road on the other side of the course. She said she thought there was a bus stop there. Boonie was such a good sport the whole time. He will be my adventurer! I love situations like that. We ended up calling a bus who made a special trip just for us to bring us back. It was great.
Boonie loved being out doing stuff. He's a great companion who is eager to do whatever idea you come up with. I was soaking in my little boy. I wanted to buy him a sling shot while we were there. He got pretty good at his aim!
Tom and Laura showed up and we went sight seeing around the resort.
The next morning we went on a hike. The kids were good sports - Marae and Adelyn got a little lazy but did well - especially in the forested areas where she thought the wicked witch lived. I'm so thankful I've never been a sick pregnant lady.
We took the kids to paint pottery. Marae chose a cupcake jewelry box and Boonie made a cereal bowl. Both turned out cute.
Each night of the event they had a different party going on. The first night was a James Bond casino night. We didn't get any pictures there, but it was fun. The second night was an Austin Power's/dance party/food from around the world party. At the end of the dance party they had the band CCR playing. "Rollin, Rollin' Rollin' Down The River" We had second row seats.
I had a fun connection with the keyboard player. We kept making faces at each other. At the end of the show he pointed at me and bowed.
After Mason's conference Tom and Laura went home and we went to Breckenridge. We went to a theme park there, but after getting stuck at the top of the mountain bc the ski lift couldn't move bc of weather, we got our money back and just walked around town. At least we got to do a few fun things at the theme park. Win, win! Here we are in a gondola traveling up the mountain to the theme park.
