My birthday

32 Years old!!!  I guess that's how old I am... I'm too lazy to do the math right now.  All I know is that I'm two years younger than Mason and I know he's not 35.  It's strange how hard it is to keep track of when you get older.  I had a nice birthday.  We went to Kabuki - a tempanyaki type restaurant.  They have the open fire grill.  It was yummy.  Sweet little Adelyn came with us.  After dinner we went to Walmart.  I sure know how to party hard!!

That morning my girlfriends took me out to breakfast at Herm's Inn.  YUMMY again.  I wish I would have gotten a picture with all of us!

Then the following weekend Emily took me out to lunch and to get pedicures.  I have the best friends.

Boone was so excited for my birthday.  He told Mason that he wanted to get me some jewels.  Mason asked him where he was going to get the jewels and Boone told him that he was going to go to the store and buy some.  He asked him how he was going to get to the store.  Boone said that he was going to walk there.  So Mason took Boonie to the store and he picked out some earrings for me.  They are the star of Nauvoo temple earrings.  I like them a lot and Boonie notices every time I wear them.  I make sure to wear them a lot.  He knows how to treat a lady right!!

January Randoms

On Mason's watch one night Marae got into the cow cream (bag balm) and smeared it all over the top of her head.  We probably washed her hair 5 times that night with all kinds of different things.  Finally the website said, "This can be removed from many different surfaces, but not hair."  So she had a pretty greasy head for about a week.  Oh Rae.  The picture below was the morning after.

We even tried baby powder to absorb the grease.

Mad Madame Mim anyone!?

There are some moments in my life when I just pause and soak in the joy of being a mother.  When Boonie came out in this bee costume with a spy glass I just had to watch him and completely love the little boyness of it all.

It has been a very dry winter.  We've only had about 3 major snowfalls this year.  So when it snowed towards the end of the month we had to have a sledding party with the friends.  From front to back:  Eve Peterson, Ella Kelstrom, Collin Kelstrom, Boone, Jonah, Theron Peterson, Luke Peterson, and Marae.  Lindsey is squatting down and that's Renee in the red coat.

Boonie was so excited to build a snowman.  It lasted for a while and it was so fun to watch it melt.

We rearranged the room yet again.  This time Boonie has come down from the top bunk.  He and Marae tried to pull her up to the top with a blanket around her neck!!!!  Then after that she tried to climb up using the toy shelve as a step and fell off and hit her face HARD on the side of her bed.  So now no one is on top.

We are always having to find new things to do during the winter months to entertain ourselves.  This one went over well.

One night the electricty went out during dinner.  That was pretty exciting.  I told Marae to just hold still until we found a flashlight but she just kept running around the house and into walls.  It's amazing anyone survives childhood.

We've had a warm January.  When it got to the  upper 40s we had to take a walk and go to the park.

Marae

Sweet baby Rae.  I'm sitting here waiting for Marae to wake up from her nap and I thought I'd just jot down a few things about her right now.  She's quite a character.  She has a strong personality and will at times and other times she is the sweetest thing ever.  She likes to follow me around and it makes me laugh that I can hear he stomping footsteps on our hollow floor coming to find me whenever I sneak away from her.  She is a jabbery little thing right now.  She loves to talk and I love to listen to her talk as she tries to form words as fast as her brain is moving.  She will sit there and say the same thing over and over until you acknowledge what she has said.  She has the cutest little smile.  She still loves her Deedee.  She also loves orangens (oranges), string cheese, apple juice, rice, her pony purse, Let it Go, The Wheels on the Bus book, her princess boots, VW Beetle bug toy cars, her play kitchen, taking a bath, brushing her teeth aka eating tooth paste (brush your teeth as it's called), dressing up like a princess, being sung to, saying I love you, daddy, and of course her baby sister.

I love my little Rae.  She is still my Rae of sunshine.

Adelyn 2 Months

Sweet Adelyn.

Weight: 11 pounds 13 ounces - 75th percentile
Height: 24 inches - 97th percentile

Already two months old.  That's amazing.  She sure has wiggled her way into all of our hearts.  Even Marae calls her princess.

Things Adelyn does at 2 months:
  • Smiles.  She has the cutest little smile that curls up like a bow.  The other night we put her to bed at like 8 and she woke up after a while.  She didn't start crying but was making sounds like she was trying to get our attention.  It was as if she were saying, "HEY!"  Mason went in there and she was complete smiles.  She just wanted to hang out with someone.  Boone and Marae love to tell us when she smiles at them - which is quite frequently.
  • She is the best sleeper in the world.  I'm not kidding.  We put her to bed at 8/9 and she wakes up at 6:45 when the other kids do.  What!?  Trick baby!?  Yes she is.  Heavenly Father knew I couldn't handle anything else.
  • She sucks in her air and makes a squeaky silly sound.
  • She is starting to get more vocal.  When she's in a good mood and the kids aren't around making noise she will sit there and talk to me.  The other day she screamed while talking to me and then was silent for about 3 minutes.  I think she scared herself.
  • She always smiles her biggest for daddy.
  • I call her bug.  Tato bug.  She is so deliciously squishy.  She also has the nicknames of princess and angel.  My favorite is when Boonie and Marae also call her princess.
  • She likes to be rocked to sleep at night.  During her daytime naps she will just lay right down and go to sleep staring at something but at night she likes to be rocked to sleep in the recliner which I don't mind doing at all.  She doesn't ask for much.
  • Her hair is amazing.  She gets compliments on it everywhere she goes.
  • Her ears stick out.  I think she will grow into them.  Luckily she has a ton of hair that covers them up.  We were at the fun park this weekend and I was wearing her in the baby bjorn.  She had a head band on and I noticed everyone looking at my darling baby and smiling.  I was so proud.  Then I went into the bathroom to wash my hands (I'm a germ freak) and saw her in the mirror.  The headband had pushed her ears completely forward (think dumbo) and she was pushing her head back against my chest like she always does when she is upright and stiff making her double chin/cheeks protrude like an extremely overweight man.  I should have taken a picture.  It was hilarious.
  • She is the light in all our lives.  Everyone adores her.  I wish I could keep her this small and sweet forever.
The many faces of Adelyn... all within a 20 second time frame after church one Sunday.

Another Sunday with my dolly and her handsome daddy.

I had to change Marae's diaper one morning and I told Boonie to babysit.  When I came back I found this.  He was so proud to babysit.

I love her face in the picture below.  Something went terribly wrong between the first picture and the second.

Her first grocery shopping trip with her mommy.  The grocery store I go to has a play place that you can check kids 2 and older into.  It's a life saver and I enjoy my one on one time with my sweet heart.

Yet another Sunday.  She just looks so cute all dolled up I have to take pictures.  But this particular day I just thought she looked so soft and sweet in her carrier that I had to remember her that way.

I still haven't caught that gorgeous smile on camera yet... but I've come close...

Here she was in costume for the movie Boonie wanted to make one morning.  Her eye brows had us laughing all morning.

Babies just grow entirely too fast.  Can't I keep you little forever darling girl?
