Baby Daddy

Adelyn was very welcomed when she came home.  Both kids wanted to hold her.  We supplimented formula with a bottle until my milk came in so Boonie and Marae were just delighted to feed her with the bottle.  Boonie especially.  He adores her.

I'm writing this on December 16th when Adelyn is already 3 weeks old and it's just crazy how much her face has already changed!!

When we told Marae her name we said, "Baby Addie" and Marae said, "What!?  Baby Daddy?!  What!?"  So that has been her nickname ever since.  It's so funny what nicknames stick.  Marae loves her baby sister now and asks to hold her all the time.  But she will only hold her for about 5 seconds and then pushes her off saying, "All done."

The day after the kids came back from Alpine after Thanksgiving we put up our Christmas tree.  Marae picked up one of the Christmas tree stand holders and ran full speed across the room in an ax chopping motion towards Adelyn who was sitting on the couch.  I was across the room and screamed every persons name except Marae's at the top of my lungs and Mason caught Marae's arm mid chop as the tree stand gently brushed the top of Adelyn's hair.

That is the only time Marae has acted negatively towards Addie.  It's like she had to do it once just to see what the reaction would be.  Crazy Rae.

Boonie says that Adelyn looks like a butterfly in her cocoon.  Every time I put her in her swaddle he will say, "Are you ready to turn into a butterfly little baby?"  He's so sweet.

They have the same face in the next two pictures.  Ha!

My three babies!!

It took Adelyn's belly button exactly 21 days to fall off.  That being said, she didn't get a good bath for 3 weeks.  Her hair got pretty greasy a couple of times and she looked like a little greasy rat.  And we all adored her for it.

The day Addie came home Boonie had to show her all his toys.  Pretty dang cute - except for how close the airplane would fly to her eyes at times.  He would hold the toys SO CLOSE!

This one is my favorite:

Baby girl is the loudest sleeper ever.  We kept her in our room for the two weeks my mom was here and her snorts and grunts kept me up all the time!  I would have let her stay in there with us, but after my mom left she got banished to her own room.

This was after her second sponge bath.  This little girl LOVES having her hair washed under the spray attachment on the sink.  Everything else she pretty much hates.

I love to chew on those cheeks.  They've already gone down...

The moment she falls asleep she will smile.  That's how i know she's really asleep when I'm rocking her.  It's pretty cute because sometimes I'll be rocking her and watching TV and look down and she has this giant smile on her face.  I haven't caught it on camera but it's pretty darling.

Adelyn and I on Thanksgiving enjoying the peace and quiet but missing our family at the same time.

Oh how I love her.

November Randoms

My mom arrived November 5th and stayed until December 6th.  We had a great time with her and I'm so glad she was here to help me during the worst of it all.  She was here for the end of the pregnancy and for Adelyn's first two weeks.  She played and loved on my kids and helped me run the daily rat race.

Boonie had a Thanksgiving feast at preschool.  He looked so cute in his hat that he brought home.

One of the first few days my mom was here she took the kids to the park.  Boonie fell and smashed his lip and face pretty well.  We laughed that Grandma had a great start to her 'help'.

We went to a craft fair here in Logan.  Olaf was there and both children were terrified...  Espcailly Marae.

Numb face from getting a filling fixed:

We had our first snow the 2nd week in November.  The kids were excited to go out and play in it.  For some reason I found Marae licking this tree... She's got a lot to learn this winter if she is going to go around licking things.  Crazy little girl!!!

We (I) was going stir crazy so we went to the park.

My mom and Boonie had a snowball fight.

The other randoms are of baby Addie and deserve a whole post of their own!

It's Thanksgiving today and I'm spending the day with my sweet baby girl all to myself.  Mason took the kids down to Alpine yesterday where they will spend a couple of days with Nanna and Poppa.  Today they drove out to Woodland for the large family Thanksgiving.  It's been a different Thanksgiving this year and I do miss my family.  But I am soaking up these newborn snuggles and Adelyn is figuring out this crazy world.

I'm so thankful for my life.  I'm so thankful for my beautiful sweet family.  They are so crazy at times but I wouldn't trade all the noise and insanity because I love who they are.  They are healthy, spirited, adventurous, strong willed, happy, busy, noisy, hilarious little bodies.  I'm excited for life to get back to normal... although who knows what normal really means at this point.  We all will adjust to this new member of our family and I will actually be able to get down and play with my kids again.  Plus my kids won't have a tired and EXTREMELY uncomfortable mommy who will hug them again.  Yesterday Boonie and I were snuggling on the bed and he leaned over to hug me (basically kind of flop on me) and he said, "Oh sorry" because in the past I've warned him to watch out for the baby in my tummy.  He said, "I don't have to watch out for your belly anymore!!" and he gave me a bunch of snuggles and hugs.  Thank you Boone and Marae for being to patient over these past couple months.

I'm thankful for a good husband whose desire is to make me happy.  I know that he would do any thing that I asked...  If I ask him to jump he may not immediately ask "How high?"  He may argue with me over the best way to jump or if shoes he is wearing are the best for the landing or the location of the jump but in the end I know that he always wants me to be happy and I am so blessed to have that.  Our lives keep getting better with each other and the adventures keep coming.  We have trials that we overcome together and Heavenly Father has blessed us so much.

I'm so thankful for my mom and the amount of time that she has put into our lives these past 3 weeks.  And she isn't even done yet.  She's staying all next week to help too.  She arrived November 5th and will leave the morning of December 8th.  Can you imagine putting your life on hold for that long?? She's been cleaning nonstop, cooking meals, and most importantly playing with my children and loving them.  It's been a taxing time on us all playing the waiting game waiting for the arrival of baby Adelyn. But she hasn't complained once and even though I feel so bad using her so much I've really needed her and enjoyed her being here.  We've got to spend a lot of time together and I've missed that.

It's a good Thanksgiving day.  I have a friend in the ward who made me a Thanksgiving brunch this morning and will be bringing over dinner around 5.  I'm thankful for my life.  I'm thankful for my blessings.  I'm thankful that the Lord loves me and blesses me each and every day despite my short comings.

Happy Thanksgiving.

The Thanksgiving Getaway

Mason took the kids down to his parents for a Thanksgiving getaway and left Adelyn and I time to stay home and snuggle.  It was good for me to have that time with her.  I feel like I got to soak in her newborness and connect with her.  This was the first vacation Mason has had with the kids and all in all things went well.  But my favorite part was the story of him not getting to have Thanksgiving dinner because he was busy changing Marae's 4 diapers that she managed to string over the space of 30 minutes.  It was good for him to be the only parent for once.  These are a bunch of pictures that he and Laura sent.  They had a lot of fun and got spoiled rotten by going to museums and such.

My sweet angel baby:

I could just stare at her for hours.
