Tomorrow is the last day of school!!

Mason's completed another year!  And what a year it's been!!  This poor guy has been put through the ringer!!  This year he taught recovery reading and math which means he had to clean up everyone's mess and desperately try to get the kids on grade level.  He has vowed to never do that again... It was WAY too much work and the kids ended up resenting him because his class was the drill it in class.  But he survived (well technically he has one more day) and he only had two death threats and was cussed out twice this week.  These kids are ruthless!!  But I know he's being blessed for working in this inner city school.  He said that today at promotion more than one student mentioned him as their most influential teacher.  That says a lot!!

He had a great team this year!  It's too bad that most of them are moving on to other schools because this one is just SO ROUGH.  I don't blame them.  There's Kevin Johnson, Heidi Schroder, Erin Heath, Shaun Cooper, Jeanne Simons, and Mason.  Only two of six are actually staying at that school next year.  And HOPEFULLY Mason gets a job elsewhere next year.  He's applying all over.
I think this picture is of Mason looking around to see if the kid that threatened to "Blast him with his 9mm at promotion" was after him.  Needless to say that young chap got expelled the last week of school.  Way to go out buddy.  The sad thing is, is that I wouldn't put it past these kids.  Some of them are already in gangs or have older siblings in gangs so it's all they know.  I honestly wouldn't put it past them to do something that stupid and ruin their lives (and not to mention mine) forever.
Great job you guys!!  The principal Nancy Uxa said that this is the best middle school team they've ever had at Gateway.

I've decided I'm thankful for people with smart phones that take pictures and post them on Facebook.  That's where all these pictures in this post came from.  Without them, I wouldn't have any pictures of Mason at school.  The 8th graders went to the roller skating rink for their end of the year field trip this year.  Boonie and I stopped by to say hi being it was just down the road from us.
Boonie LOVED roller skating!!  He had this big goofy grin on the whole time.  Whenever Mason would stop he asked to keep going but of course he couldn't even stand up in those silly skates that were 2 sizes too big.  :)

Slippery Fish

Boonie and took a swim class through the city.  It's not really a 'class' in the sense that they actually learn anything.  But it was fun to get in the water to cool off and splash around.  My little monkey is so fearless in the water.  He loved it!!  The instructors had toys for the kids to play with and one of the toys was a plastic golf ball.  If Boonie saw the ball and didn't get to play with it, it was all over.  I tried to make sure that we got that ball before the class started each time, but sometimes we didn't and he was crazy to get it away from the other kids.  Boone and his love of any type of ball!!

I'm a bit sad that we had to miss 3 of the 8 classes because he got sick... but he really enjoyed the ones he did get to go to.  This was just preparing him for swimming at Grandma's this summer.

One of Boone's little friends from nursery, Tenley, was in the class too.  They are cute friends and I love the way she says his name.
We babysat Tenley one night and before Boone went to bed they were giving hugs which were sweet.
And then kisses - YIKES!!  Holly don't kill me.  It was cute.  He looks like such a nerd in his girly yellow jammies.  It's too bad that Tenley is moving to Ohio this weekend.  I've loved watching these two grow up together!!

23 Weeks Tomorrow!

This picture was taken last week when I was technically 21 weeks.  I'm officially showing now, but I'm not to the gigantic stage where people stare as I walk by afraid that I may go into labor any moment.  This is the 'pretty' stage of pregnancy where the belly still looks cute.  Although I do have to admit that I felt it looked a lot cuter last time - but I think that just has to do with losing the baby weight only to get pregnant again.  That first time I hadn't just spent 9 months trying to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight.  I had a friend tell me the other day that she was just going to eat and not exercise for the next 5 years until she's done having kids because honestly, what's the point??  I feel her pain.

Pregnancy Stats
  • Total weight gained: I’m up 13 lbs.  This is about 5 pounds less than what I was with Boone.  I've decided that the difference between then and now is the fact that I'm not a teacher and eating that horrible (only horrible in the sense of how fatty it was) cafeteria food everyday.  Now that I have Boonie I actually have well balanced meals that contain fruits and veggies!  He's a great motivation to be healthy!
  • Cravings: It differs everyday - and it depends on what commercial I just saw.  Last night I was craving Doritos.  Actually... those still sound pretty good today too.  I've also been craving Pringles ever since Boonie and I went on a picnic with a friend the other day and she gave us some.  I haven't had those since high school and forgot how yummy they were!!
  • Aversions: Taco Salads.  But there is a legit reason for this one.  The last time we had taco salads we used the lettuce that has been growing in our garden.  I was so proud of that lettuce.  While we were sitting there eating Mason kept chewing on something between his teeth.  He said that he was trying to pop a tomato seed between his front teeth, but it just wouldn't burst.  Well he pulls that tomato seed out and it was a little green worm.  Oh. So. Gross.  The thought of taco salads makes me want to vomit right this second.  But it is hilarious to think about how he was dancing that little guy around between his teeth for so long!!  AHAH!
  • Weird Pregnancy Symptoms: Braxton Hicks Contractions.  These started a couple weeks ago.  I don't remember having them this early.  Also, my belly button is so weird looking.  Boonie use to love my belly button, but now I think he thinks I'm just a weird-o.  Plus it HURTS if you touch it!!  Oh yes... and the hormones... I swear I wasn't this crazy with Boone.  It must be all these girlie hormones - but yikes!!!!!!  Want to see something entertaining?  Ask me to start crying - I can do it on cue.
  • Goal for next week: Be positive and have faith.  With Mason trying to land another job and us not knowing what's going on next year, it's been really stressful for me.  I know Heavenly Father will bless us and take care of us - I just need to let him do it on his time table and stop expecting it to be mine.  I also am going to try and keep my nesting instincts under control.  So far I've painted these two dressers, made a little dress and a skirt, made hair bows and bought too many cute things on ebay.  But I suppose that's better than expecting each room of the house be painted a new color in the NEXT. TEN. MINUTES. like I was trying to do at the beginning of the pregnancy.
Here are some of my 'nesting' projects as Mason calls them.  I made all these bows yesterday afternoon and had so much fun making them.  I am in love with the little hair bows.  I told Mason I'm making one for each and every outfit she owns - I wasn't kidding.

Here is Boone modeling how adorable they will look in a little girl's hair.  This poor guy is SICK.  His fever last night got up to 104.4!!  It was so scary.  Luckily the fever broke and he has hand, foot, mouth which we think he got from either Darci (that's okay Darci, we still love you) or I heard someone saying it was going around the nursery.  Luckily I had a heads up as to what it was or we would have headed to the ER.  As it was we were in the car last night at 10 when his fever was that high but decided not to go.  Which was wise on our part.
I redid these dressers about a month ago.  It was the first time I've ever redone anything before and I enjoyed it!  I sanded them down and painted two coats of paint.  I just love them!  The tall dresser was my little brother Eric's when he was growing up and the shorter one was mine growing up.

And.... I'm trying my hand at sewing!!  I made this ADORABLE little reverseable dress and skirt made out of an old T-shirt.  That dress is just so cute!!   I can't wait to see it on!

 17 more weeks to go!!!

Introducing... Master Mason!!!

I'd like to introduce to you... MASTER MASON!!  Mason graduated with his Master's degree in secondary education this past Saturday.  I am so proud of him and all the hard work that he has put into the past two years.  He has been so busy with teaching, coaching, and ASU work that sometimes I know he felt like he never saw us (and we missed him too).  I know that he put his best effort into each of those areas even those sometimes that effort went unnoticed.  Well it paid off hun, and I am so proud of you.

It was so exciting watching him walk across that stage and getting his degree.  Boonie clapped too!  Congratulations Master Mason!

I'm pretty sure he was looking for us in this picture.  He did eventually find us amidst those thousands of people!

Look at that guy... he totally photo bombed my picture.

His moment of fame!!

One of Mason's Phoenix Teaching Fellow's friends - Beth Lewis.  Phoenix Teaching Fellows is like Teach for America - an alternate route to liscening.

The only way to keep track of Boonie.

Eric Brown - another Teaching Fellow

Mason, Eric Brown, Beth Lewis, Thai Nugen - these guys had so much fun together!!

Shay, Elna, ?, Eric Brown, Jamyle, Erica, and Mason.

Nana and Papa

Mason's parents came to visit this past weekend for Mason's graduation.  We had such a nice time with them.  On Friday morning we went to the zoo to let them see how hot it really gets in May.  Boonie was a little wary of them at first, but by Sunday morning he had officially warmed up to them - just in time for them to leave.  :(  Hopefully he'll remember them when we go up and visit this summer.  All these pictures were taken on Laura's iphone.

Riding on Papa's shoulders.

If you look closely you can see a huge bruise on his cheek.  Last Wednesday he fell on this squiggie window washer thing and it left a HUGE bruise!  Luckily it didn't hit his eye!  This kid is covered in bruises all the time.  If only he would walk...  I swear we don't beat him.

3 generations.

Laura was so happy to get this picture with Boonie.  She said, "I don't have any pictures with my Grandkids!!"  I guess she's always the one taking the pictures.

A glimpse a Boonie the wild man at the zoo splash pad.

I hate how fat my face gets when I'm pregnant.  There I said it.  First it's my hips, them my face.  Whatever.  Quit looking at me - Mason's the one with his eyes closed...  :)

April Randoms

Boonie is 19 months now and just so much fun.  I am so in love with this little boy.  I can't stand how fast he is growing.  Here are some things that I want to remember about him right now:

  • He loves trains, buses, the moon, and trucks.
  • He likes to sing songs and do the actions to them.  His favorites are "Little Bunny in the Woods" that his Grandma taught him, The Itsy Bitsy Spider, Patty Cake, and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
  • He loves to sing and at church he will belt out in his singing voice while the hymns are being sung.
  • He RUNS everywhere he goes.  But he looks so funny when he runs because of his big belly and the way he kicks his legs out in front of him when he runs.  He kinda looks like an egg with stilts running around.
  • He loves to help clean things up, take the trash out, and carry in the groceries.
  • He gives kisses freely.
  • In the mornings when he wakes up he sits in his room calling, "Mama, mama!" until I respond.
  • He's totally potty trained and has been since 18 months.  I think that's so amazing for his age and I honestly believe that I have the smartest child in the world.
  • He says please when he wants something - which is often.
  • His favorite show is Curious George and when he wants to watch it he makes a monkey sound.
  • He loves his mommy and daddy.
  • He has learned to say the word help and sometimes when he and his daddy are wrestling he will say, "HELP!!  HELP!!" and it's hilarious.  Sometimes he will start to say help when Mason is creeping up on him getting ready to pounce.
  • He's busy, busy, busy!!!  But he is such a good boy and does what I ask him to do.  Sacrament is even getting better!!
  • He makes the animals sounds to a: dog, elephant, monkey, horse, owl, pig, bunny (nose sniff), and cow.
  • He loves baseballs, basketballs, footballs - basically any type of ball there is.  The other day he hit 4 balls in a row that Mason pitched to him.  Mason almost had a heart attack and had me run in to get the camera.  Boone hasn't done it since, but I'm pretty sure Mason's completely in heaven.
  • He says the funniest things.  My favorites are:  Here it is!, Done, Please - sounds like ease, Buh for milk, help, moon - sounds like mawn, and many other things.  I love it when he runs into whatever room I'm in and says, "HI!!"  He melts me.

Here is Boonie and Blue Bear.  Blue Bear is his all time favorite animal and he can't go to sleep without him at night.  Blue Bear is getting kinda raggy already, but he is SO LOVED!!  I asked Mason if as soon as Boonie outgrows Blue Bear can I keep him forever and Mason said yes - I'm going to have such a hard time letting go of my baby.

My mom took this picture of him at the zoo back in March.  He wouldn't stop making this cheesy face.  Goof.
I see you!!
One of the few times he's ever fallen asleep in the stroller.  We had to document it, because it never happens.
These are from February...  He thinks he's pretty cool in his new shades.  When we are driving in the car and I put mine on he will sit in the back and say, "Eyes, eyes!"  asking for his.

Boonie, you are my whole world and I love you more than you'll ever know.  I'm so thankful you are mine.
