The Reunion

The main reason we decided to go up to Utah the week before a major trip leaving us only 10 hours between getting home and our flight leaving (I would not recommend this with a baby) was to be there to celebrate Mason's Grandma's 90th birthday. We usually go to the reunions every year, but being we live in AZ now we were thinking about skipping it. But 90th birthdays only happen once - and I'm so glad we were there!

It started out with the Friday night hot dog roasting and smores.

Then some family history recap and memories. Notice the bread stick that we cooked over the fire. I'd never seen that before, but YUM! All they are is pillsbury rolls wrapped on a stick!

Boonie's first time meeting Buddy - he loved him - clearly.

Grandma and JulieAnn

Everyone camped out that night and the next day there were lots of games. We won the tug o' war again! Then we played "who can get the most balloons in a shirt in 60 seconds." Here was our contestor... my nephew Little Wolfie.

I'd say he won - don't ya think!?

Belly flop to pop those balloons! Too bad he didn't weigh enough. But there was a massive dog pile on top of him afterwards.... no worries.

A BALLOOOOOON:

And here is the birthday girl in all her glory!! I love this lady so much. She is such an inspiration and blessing to my life.

She was given an album with pictures from her childhood and then each family member (mind you there are OVER 180 of them) wrote a little momento and included their picture with it for her to read and know how much she is loved. By the way, my brother in law Bryan who works for Disney drew that picture of her on the front. Isn't he amazing!?

They rented a massive water slide! Usually they just get little ones for the kids, but this year the adults got to join in! It was fun!

Of course I had to take Boonie down. He loved it. I think I have an adrenaline junky on my hands already.

I LOVE his face in the picture below.

Then we all got together for separate family photos. Here is the whole family minus Danielle's family who lives in Paris.

Bryan, Tandi, Monet, Avery, Lilah, and Scotty (Tandi is pregnant - I know... you can't even tell)

Ashlee, Bobby, Gracie, and little Bobby Jr.

Adrian, Emilie, Sydney, Gabe, Zach, and Wolfie (Seth)

The rest of the week...

It seemed like such a quick trip this time around. We had a family bbq and just spent some quality time with the family. Here are 3 generations of Leflers:

We road bikes up to our old apartment and then decided to go and visit the tree that Mason saved about 3 years ago. It's growing out but not up. But I think he was still just happy to see it alive. While we were riding our bikes people were driving past us looking at us like, "Those people are CRAZY! It's so hot out!" It was like 85. That's our winter down here people. But we had fun riding around Alpine. We quickly realized how many memories Alpine holds for the both of us.

Boone and his cousin Monet.

Double rainbow!

Yummm... Baked Beans!

Boonie loves baked beans and dirt.

Gracie and Boone on the tire swing.

He looked so cute hanging on to that tire swing all by himself. What a big boy I have.

Not too sure about this slide. I forgot to mention though, when we were at 7 peaks and we took him down the water slide he LOVED it. He would laugh the whole way down and wiggle like he wanted to go again once we got to the bottom.

U-tarh!

We just got back from a FABULOUS two weeks of vacation. We drove to Utah the 8th - 17th and then the 18th - 25th we went to Cancun with Mason's parents to tour through his mission.

I have so many fun pictures of all that we did. I am going to split the Utah post into two days. Let me just say that I forgot how beautiful it is up there. We left Friday afternoon around 1:00 and arrived at 2:30 am Saturday morning. Boonie actually did a lot better than we thought he would. We had to stop about every two hours, but he was such a trooper!

Saturday we drove up to Tibble Fork canyon to see the river and the lake. Utah has been getting so much water. The river and lake were so full and beautiful. It started raining on us while we were there, but we didn't mind.

Monday night I had a roommate reunion with the girls that I lived with back in my college days at Raintree. 4 of the 6 of us had babies within the past year so it was so fun to finally meet all the little guys! Here is Emily and Frank, Geneve and Connor, and Boonie and I. There was a whole lot of wiggling in this picture.

Here are all the ladies of apartment 5?? I think that was our number - minus Jana (we missed you Jana!!!). Megan, me, Emily, Geneve, and Katy.

Swimming at the AF rec center:

Later in the week I went and visited Ashley and Tae. Boonie sure has a lot of friends. These two were pretty cute to watch together. Look at those blue eyes!

Here is another moment where Utah just took my breath away. Check out this sunset.

Me and my Natalie.

Tuesday some of us went to 7 peaks. Boonie's first water park!!

I know what you're thinking... how do they get him to smile like that?!

Here's how:

Ok... so story... Mason's friend Chris calls us up one night and says, "Mason. Do you trust me?" Of course Mason does and Chris proceeds to talk him into an adventure that they both insisted I HAD to go on. The task was to take black lights and search for golf balls that had been hit out in the tall grass behind Thanksgiving Point. We get out there and are instantly SWARMED by misquitos as we are tromping through the mud and chin high grass (mind you... I am in shorts and a T-shirt). Not really my idea of an adventure (Amy... you are lucky you had a newborn as an excuse not to come). Anywho... after almost being chased by security and near malaria, we headed back to a nearby gas station and the boys picked their loot. We ended up with 140 balls that they used the next day golfing. I feel like they were sorting baseball cards by the way there were getting so excited and trading. Silly boys. I'm not quite sure why I had to be a part of this adventure. But... it makes for a good memory I guess.

Wednesday we all went up the canyon for tin foil dinners. Yum!!

Nana and Boone.

GG with her sweeping stick.

There was the first half of the week!
