On my actual birthday

Look at this face.  I could just eat him up.

We were at downtown Phoenix at the Arizona Center where I had my first paid photoshoot!

The Girly Scream

So we went to the 4 month check up yesterday (5 days late) and Boone's stats were:

14.6 pounds
25 inches long
He was in the 50th percentile for both.

I got a video of him doing his girly scream the other day. At the beginning I was trying to do a hidden camera because he usually gets so distracted by the camera. But of course he stopped as soon as I pulled it out. BUT... keep watching because when I go over to him the camera only causes the girly scream to come out more. Oh yes... it sounds like my little boy is screaming at a scary spider or something. It's pretty hilarious and often ear splitting at times. We can't watch tv at the same time he is playing with his toys. It's way too much competition.

Enjoy.

4 Months Old

My how time flies. I feel like I say this each month and will probably continue to say it each month, but I can't believe little Boonie is already 4 months old. What a world of delight he is. We go to the doctor on Wednesday so I'll post his stats then. Here are some fun things he is doing:

  • Talking all the time. He has just discovered this high pitch girly scream and does it quite often. He kept doing it yesterday during Sunday school... slightly disruptive, but it's hilarious when he does it.
  • He has figured out his hands. He is actually quite strong. Whenever we feed him a bottle it's a battle to see who can keep it in their hands.
  • He gets distracted while eating. Sometimes I have to put a blanket over his face while I am nursing him or else he will be too busy looking around and forget to drink.
  • He laughs now and it's the best sound in the world.
  • He likes to lay under his play gym and scream at the toys above him.
  • He started sleeping outside of his burrito for like a week, but now he wants to be back in it... so we're still working on figuring that one out.
  • He still only poops sometime between 6-10 days. Weiiiird.
  • He is tolerating tummy time more often and getting good at it.
  • He pushed himself over the other day. But just once. I think he is getting SO close to rolling over.
  • He smiles non-stop.

He also has many, many nicknames. Here are some:
  • Boonie Rue
  • Little Toot
  • Boonie Noonie
  • Boonie Baby
  • Bug
  • Little Boy Blue

He is just so much fun and makes everyone smile. I'm so thankful for such a happy and sweet baby. Some people have told me that he is a 'trick' baby - meaning that he's the type of baby that tricks you into having other babies because he's so easy, happy, and fun. Well he has totally tricked us if that's the case.

We've pretty much decided that he's my baby in looks. When we look at my baby pictures, he looks just like me. But he has Mason's personality because Mason's mom always says what a happy baby Mason was. Here is a tough guy picture of him:

Happy 4 Months Birthday Boone. We love you more than you'll ever know!!

Superstition Mountains

For Martin Luther King weekend I wanted to get out and enjoy this beautiful 75 degree weather that we have been having. So we decided to get together with some friends and go hiking. I'm so glad that we did. It felt SO good to be out there in that warm fresh air.

We went hiking with the Mosman's. I use to teach first grade with Britta about 4 years ago. She just had little Eliah in May and we have been wanting to get together for awhile now. So I'm glad we were able to work it out!

Here are the Superstition Mountains. There is a fun story behind these mountains including The Lost Dutchman's gold mine! Click here to read about it.
Here are Britta, Reid, and little Eliah. It was so good to finally meet you, Eliah!

This is all the farther we decided to go up. We actually went farther than we had planned. Reid basically carried the stroller up the whole time through the rough terrain. Here we are below. I was worried about Boone's little baby skin and didn't think about sunscreen. So he wore socks on his arms. As you can see below he kept knocking the one off.

When we taught together the students often mixed us up. I can see the resemblance, but not really. :)

Now below is what real men look like. These two are rare gems. I loved how Mason walked the whole way with his hand up like this blocking the sun. As you can see little Boone is tuckered out. But on the way up it was hilarious because for some reason Boone would just start laughing for no reason at all. I think it was a combination of the walking/bouncing and the hand in his face. He thought his daddy was playing a really fun game with him. I wish I would have gotten a video of it! It was so funny!!
Thanks guys for meeting up with us!

I'm so thankful for days like this!

My Morning OJ

We are SO lucky because we have an orange tree in our backyard and it's orange season!! Every morning I walk into the backyard, pluck myself a few oranges, come inside, and juice myself a nice FRESH glass of OJ. Ahh... it's so refreshing and delicious! As Mason says, "It's like living in the garden of Eden." He feels like Adam each time he is able to walk outside and grab himself an orange.

I love the way the oranges look like little cups.

The orange tree.

I'd say this is as organic as they come!!

By the way, it is officially 'fall' here in Arizona. This is the other tree in our backyard. Don't you just love the fall colors?? My dad says that sometimes the old leaves don't even fall all the way off before the new buds start blooming in March! Oh yes, and notice the poor Hibiscus plant that froze during the two nights that got below zero a couple of weeks ago. I'm hoping that it isn't totally dead and comes back in the spring. It was so pretty.

Wah-la!! De-lish!

What?! No pictures of Boone you are thinking??? That's because he is actually taking, so far, a 2 hour nap!!!! I'm so proud of him. I have been trying to get him to take a longer than 45 minute nap for quite some time now. What a little doll.

Christmas is Officially Over!! (As of Yesterday)

First of all this is what I get to wake up to every morning. Then when he actually does wake up and start squeaking he is just sitting there all bright eye'd and bushy-tailed and smiling from ear to ear because he's so happy to see his mommy. How lucky am I?

And yes, this is what I did yesterday the 12th. It's okay right?? I just wanted to extend Christmas a bit. Alright, alright, I'll admit. I was just lazy for a week. But now my house is officially back in order!!!

Thanks for the help Boonie!

Roar

Isn't this the cutest beanie? And no my baby does not have pink eye. Sometimes when his eye has been leaking all day (remember he has a clogged tear duct) it gets a little sore.

We love Ross.

Other Utah happenings

So I decided to change the look of my blog and am a bit sad that I can't quite figure out how to make it do what I want to to do. But if you came with the past couple of days and it was crazy, that's why. This will have to do for now until I can figure out how to make it cute like the rest of you out there. That new template designer is my enemy.

Anyway, here are the last of the Utah pictures/happenings that were taken on my crummy video camera. So please bear with the grainy images. Here is Boone on his 3 month old birthday. This is a picture of his halfway little grin. He does this big close mouthed grin that just melts my heart. Two little dimples come out on his chin when he does it. But I was only able to catch a halfway one.

I just adore this little coat of his. My sister in law who lives in France brought this over for him. I just think he is ADORABLE in it - his fancy coat. I do realize that this is probably the only time he will ever wear that coat. So that's why I had to take the picture. We don't need coats that heavy here. :)

While we were up there I got a little nervous because Boone hadn't pooped in 8 days!! He went from going once a day to not going at all!! (Sorry for those who don't care about such things) So on day 6 I called our doctor down here and they told me to give him some baby prune juice. We tried that with no luck. We waited two days and then on day 8 (Christmas Eve) our doctor said that there could be something really wrong and so we should take him to see a doctor up there. Well being we were out of town with no insurance the only place we could take him and still be covered was the ER.

So this picture below is of little sick Boonie in the emergency room. Haha... I just think it's the funniest picture because he looks totally and completely fine... which he was - that's just what he does now. We were laughing so hard because of how content he was sitting on that bed. Even the doctor thought it was pretty comical when he came in and saw this perfectly fine baby. He just looks so tiny amidst all those wires.

But as I said, all was well. They didn't even do anything at the hospital. They just gave him a suppository that WE had brought in. But better to be safe than sorry. We know we looked a little silly to be in the emergency room, but as I said, we didn't have insurance up there!

These pictures just crack me up!!!

Utah Christmas

I was all excited to take pictures of Boone in the snow and totally prepared with my camera... until I realized I'd left the battery at home charging in the wall. SOoooo... luckily we brought our video camera that also takes pictures, even though not very good ones, but I guess some pictures are better than none. And thus begins the Utah Christmas post.

The day we got up there it was snowing beautifully. I think it snowed about 8 inches. I loved it. It was the beautiful quiet snow. Then the rest of the week it melted and then it snowed a little again the day before we left. Absolutely perfect. I got to enjoy the snow this year without having to hate it.

So the Lefler's had their annual Christmas party. Right in the middle of dinner there was a knock at the door. It was Santa and Mrs. Claus!! I was so happy they just happened to be walking down the street because I had been feeling bad that Boone hadn't had the chance to sit on Santa's lap for his first Christmas. Hooray for Santa!!

Here are all the cousins on the Lefler side minus 3. There's Monet, Gabey, Zach, Avery, Wolfie, Boone, Sydney and Gracie who was terrified of Santa.

After dinner we did the nativity scene. There were new costumes this year! And I just LOVE Sydney's (Joseph's) unibrow.

Baby Jesus always had a pacifier. Didn't you know?

Then we did the gag gifts which sadly I didn't get any pictures of. Oh well. Laura had Mason and she got him a pot to put in the ashes of his problem students and a monkey that laughs insanely for him to listen to when he's going insane at school. Bryan had me and he got me a PVC pipe to use on any intruders in the home along with a sponge to gag myself with so I don't scream and give away my location. The story behind this was one day Mason came home 2 hours early and I thought he was an intruder. Instead of hiding and doing something smart I just stood in the baby's room and screamed. It was sad and funny at the same time. Now we just laugh.

I had Tom. I made him an igloo for him to go live in being his house isn't his own now that so many people live there. Mason had GG and he made her a powerpoint video that was an intervention for all her cell phone usage. It was a fun night as always.

Christmas morning we woke up and opened presents. It was so fun having a baby this year. Baby presents are so much more fun than adult presents.

And his favorite gift was the purple string.

And yes, he really is THAT cute. :)
Merry Christmas.

Arizona Celebrations

It was our year to go up to Utah for Christmas so we left to go up there on the 20th. But before we left we had our little Christmas here so that we wouldn't have to transport gifts back and forth.

This was the picture we put on our Christmas card this year. I love that little smile!

There were so many cute poses to choose from. I considered putting a milk moustache and a cookie in his hand. Too bad I'm not a pro at photoshop. :)

Here is Boonie opening his Christmas present. Santa brought him a blue bumbo this year.

I can't quite remember why his clothes are off, but here is Boonie and his cute daddy.

And this is cute too.

Then before we left we went to visit Grandma.

Boonie is an expert polar bear rider.

This picture below makes me laugh.

Dramatic Boonie

I have A LOT of blogging to catch up on. Plus I feel that I should just throw it out there... the reason that I decided to make our blog private was because I am now using this as a journal. My friend told me about a website where you can have your blogs printed. I had been putting my pictures in a Blurb book on my computer that was just beautiful. Then right before I was about to have it printed my computer crashed and I lost the whole thing. Lots and lots of work was lost and I do not have the desire to start again. So I'm using this. There may be things that I post that you find uninteresting and I apologize but it could just be for me. :) So there you have it.

But until I get to those other posts here is Boonie telling a VERY sad story. He's a good actor full of emotion. He tells sad stories when it's almost his bedtime. I also think it's funny because apparently he thinks it's funny when his daddy coughs at the end.
